My 3 Favorite Guitar Players Of All-Time
Great guitarists don't come around every year, there are a select few that have and continue to leave their mark on the musical landscape.
As a guitar play I of course have my favorites, and not everyone's will be the same, how ever in this article I'm going to detail three in particular that few if any guitar players will argue are the cream of the crop. These three guitar players I'm going to discuss are not bound by style, skill or instruments they constantly pushing the boundaries of their craft. These are not guitarists you can learnt o copy in a weekend of the best Guitar Lessons online.
How ever while you may not be able to copy these players styles what you can do is learn some of their songs and make some of how they play your own by incorporating it into your own style.
Jimmy Page
Born James Patrick Page, Jimmy Page was best known as the lead guitar player for the famous Rock and Roll band Led Zepplin. If you're a guitar player and haven't heard of Page before then it's time to come out of your cave.
Led Zepplin inspires many beginners to take blues guitar lessons to copy many of the styles Jimmy Page brought to the fore front of Rock and Blues music.
Prior to being the guitarist for Zepplin Page was placed guitar for the Yardbirds along with another amazing guitarist Jeff Beck.
Eric Clapton
Born Eric Patrick Clapton, this man has a special gift to make his signature Fender Stratocaster sing on stage. Over the past 20-30 years Clapton has been solo, but prior to that he was with Cream, Derek and the Dominos and also the Yardbird, although prior to Jimmy Page's arrival.
Clapton's career has spanned more then 50 years and he still continues to perform. Check out some of the amazing work he did with Cream such as “Whiteroom”, with Derek and the Dominos such as “Layla” and of course his solo material such as “Tears in Heaven”.
Jimi Hendrix
I leave the best for last. Jimi Hendrix had an unmatched gift for making the guitar sing. While his life was cut short he accomplished much in his short 7 year career. Whether it's the amazing show he put on at Woodstock in the sixties or any of his numerous hits that have been covered dozens of times Hendrix truly re-created playing electric guitar for all of us. To get an idea of his playing style look up some of his amazing hits such as: “Little Wing”, “Foxy Lady”, “Purple Haze” and “Hey Joe”.
Taking time to learn a complete Jimi Hendrix song takes patience but will go a long way to improving your guitar playing as a whole.
