A Short Linkin Park Biography

Any great fan of American rock music would definitely appreciate a good read of the Linkin Park biography. In 1996, the band was formed in Agoura Hills, California. They experienced their first break into the international music scene in 2005 when they released their first album, 'Hybrid Theory', which was taken from one of their previous band names. The album was certified diamond record by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The group was originally made up of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon. They were three high school friends who shared the same musical ambitions. They soon decided to form a band which they then called Xero and then went out to recruit David Farrell, Joe Hahn, and Mark Wakefield.

And similar to other bands, they also went through a series of difficulties in finding a record company to get serious with them and give them a record deal. This eventually caused some problems between the members that eventually led to Farrell and Wakefield leaving the group.

As a replacement for Wakefield, which was their vocalist at the time of his departure, they decided to get Chester Bennington and he became an official member on March of 1999. It was around this time that they changed their name from Xero to Hybrid Theory. And as part of any Linkin Park biography, they finally settled to that name as a homage to Santa Monica's Lincoln Park.

The band, after so many times that they tried and approached many record labels, they were finally noticed by Jeff Blue, who at that time was vice president of Warner Bros. Records. Their debut album, 'Hybrid Theory', which was released in 2000 was the result of this partnership with Blue.

The album was considered a great success for the group because it had nearly a decade worth of materials that they finally got to record. It sold for over 4.8 million copies worldwide. The group won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance with their single, 'Crawling'. They were also nominated for two other categories, Best New Artist and Best Rock Album. Those were amazing feats for a band who had just released their first album. These awards helped to propel the band into the rock music scene around the world, which also resulted to further sales for their album as well as for Linkin Park merch.

The band released other commercially successful albums after that. They followed their debut album with 'Meteora' which was released in 2003 and which name was taken from the region of Meteora in Greece. The album sold about 3 million copies and went up various music charts in that year.

Their next album was released on March 15, 2007 and was titled 'Minutes to Midnight'. It was notable for it took about 14 months for the band to finish the album. 'Minutes to Midnight' has already sold about 8 million copies.

Their most recent album was the 'A Thousand Suns' which was released on September 2008. It was a concept album which deals more about nuclear warfare and themes of war. It mainly garnered mixed reviews from the critics.

This is without a doubt an incomplete Linkin Park biography because we can expect greater things from this one of a kind band. With their specialties ranging from rap rock, alternative rock, to hip hop and nu metal there will certainly be other fruitful endeavors the group would undertake. And for this we can expect further demands for their albums and band merch as well.
