How Superstition Can Affect The Outcome Of A Situation
You may not consider yourself superstitious, but may have a friend who drives you crazy with these beliefs. You can not go anywhere without hearing about how not to step on the cracks in the sidewalks. You are a practical person and superstition just seems too unpractical to you. So, you do not go beyond reading your daily horoscope for a little amusement.
It can be as simple as wearing a nickel free good luck charm. Or, it can be as serious as wearing the same socks for each baseball game. You will find the faithfully superstitious throughout the country in bingo halls, on race tracks or bowling alleys near you. Some people can give you a reason as to why they are superstitious, others are just because.
So, if it's true how do these charms work for their owners? You have been thinking about sticking to your personal training, will a superstitious charm help you do so? Or, you are simply tired of all the bad luck coming your way, it won't hurt to try something out of the ordinary, you're thinking to yourself.
Whether you believe in superstition or not, these rituals have been around for centuries. Although human kind may have condensed their rituals, they have gone from cave drawings to lucky charms. Or sacrifices to the gods have changed into becoming a particular shirt that is worn to every game to bring good luck
Although most golfers know that wearing the same shorts on Sunday will not magically teach them how to break 80 on the golf course, but wear them anyway. It is an emotional process that gives comfort. It gives the person some kind of control in situations that may be outside of their comfort zone.
Reacting emotionally to a superstition can aid in getting someone in a positive state of mind. Staying positive can impact performance in a very real way. This enhances both mental and physical performance. It may be what you do before the game, a small prayer, or the socks you wear during the game. Whatever it may be to get you in a positive state of mind will increase your ability to perform better.
These superstitious charms or rituals are made important by the person doing them because it gives them self-confidence. It gives them confidence that they are going to win. They are going to achieve because good luck is on their side. Thinking this way will push someone to take the proper steps in achieving a particular goal. Once achieved, is it really the charm, bracelet or ritual that help win? Or was it really the positive state of mind the person was in?
